International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) is the world-wide organisation of national pharmaceutical professional and scientific associations, with the mission to represent and serve pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences around the globe.

Although FIP represents national organizations, it also is the home of individual pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, who participate respectively through the Board of Pharmaceutical Practice and the Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

FIP members form a comprehensive network of pharmacists around the globe, with a global communications infrastructure via printed publications, e-mail lists and the website, as well as congresses, conferences and workshops. Pharmacy’s leaders and innovators are linked through their membership of FIP.

Every year, FIP organises the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where thousands of pharmacists meet, learn, share and exchange views. Lectures, plenary sessions, poster exhibitions and section programmes, together with Council meetings and the Leadership Conference make this event the premier event in pharmacy each year. The social side – finding new friends and greeting old ones – complements the varied Congress programme.

FIP is active in education, development, and research through its continuing education programs, leadership conferences, symposia and workshops, as well as through the FIP Foundation for Education and Research.

FIP sets global pharmacy standards through professional and scientific guidelines, policy statements and declarations, as well as through its collaboration with international organizations. FIP closely collaborates with the WHO to implement a global health agenda. With the status of Non-Governmental Organisation in Official Relations with WHO, FIP provides professional and scientific input to WHO projects and expert groups.
