Health Protection Agency

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) is a national organisation which is dedicated to protecting people’s health and reducing the impact of infectious diseases, chemical hazards, poisons and radiation hazards.

The Business Division of the HPA is based at Porton Down, formerly CAMR. HPA Porton Down's core business areas are research and development of vaccines against infectious diseases, process development and GMP manufacture of biologics derived from microbial fermentation - particularly those requiring containment or focused on the bio-defence market.

In addition, a wide range of support services are offered from bio safety, through GLP immunoassay testing to in-vivo studies and the supply of cell cultures.
