Image Metrix, a division of the American College of Radiology, is on the forefront of applying imaging techniques as a predictive and prognostic biomarker for clinical trials. The key to increasing the efficiency of drug development programs is the integration of the appropriate imaging modality.
The world-class team of physicians and scientists at ACR Image Metrix work with pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies to integrate the appropriate technology specific to their therapeutic category and compound. ACR Image Metrix provides complete imaging services with years of experience and proven expertise in employing state-of-the-art technologies.
Prognostic and Predictive Biomarkers
Using imaging as a prognostic and predictive biomarker has proven success in all stages of drug development.

ACR Image Metrix provides access to an experienced network of imaging researchers including over 180 research sites in the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN). With this available experience allows our physicians and scientists to partner with you to identify the appropriate imaging modality that best addresses the requirements of their specific therapeutic category and drug.
This usage of imaging as a prognostic and predictive biomarker has many applications, including:
- Phase I/II trials for early assessment of efficacy
- Phase II trials in conjunction with conventional anatomical measures
- Correlative trials with histopathological and genomic data
- Adaptive trials to assign subjects to treatment arms

CT, MRI/MRS & PET Image Quantitation
The state-of-the-art technologies found in the ACR Image Metrix core laboratories allow us to work across vendor platforms for key modalities such as CT, MRI/MRS and PET. We provide conventional and novel image quantitation, including two-dimensional, volumetric, and functional/metabolic approaches. TRIAD OA acts as a connecting network between central reading areas and on-site workstations. TRIAD OA is an electronic solution for image collection, transfer, anonymization, re-identification, archiving and viewing of images.
Our system allows for enhanced annotation and markup utilities while providing flexible search and download capabilities. TRIAD OA is designed to be fully interfaceable with major federal informatics initiatives (e.g., Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid, caBIG).
Imaging Acquisition: Standard Operating Processes
Interpretation and quantitation are standard operating processes put into place to ensure the normalization of quantitative data across vendors and platforms.
Additionally, ACR Image Metrix is collaborating with regulatory agencies (NCI, FDA and CMS) to develop standards for imaging acquisition, data normalization, data extraction and the assessment of variability for such key functional and molecular imaging methods as PET, DCE-MRI and MRS among others.
