Legacy Automation and Emergency Shut Down Systems

Having an extensive skill base, Optimal is capable of automating virtually any operation in your factory from raw material processing through to packaging lines.  A growing part of the business is the upgrading of legacy automation systems as they become unreliable or difficult to support.  Drawing on our experiences we are able to reverse engineer systems and automate using modern technology.  We learn from the old system and optimise the new one in terms of productivity and efficiency.  To complete our offering we design and build ESD, (Emergency Shut Down) systems, and work in compliance with the latest regulatory requirements.

Machine Vision Inspection Systems

Machine vision inspection systems are used extensively to not only identify reject products early in the production process and prevent adding further value, but also to provide finished product quality assurance.  We have specialist vision engineers, and are able to draw on years of experience to be successful with the most technically demanding projects.  We have implemented many systems from straightforward character recognition and verification through to high-speed detailed feature inspection in excess of 60,000 products per hour.  Having our own well-equipped vision laboratory we are able to analyse samples and quickly understand the requirements necessary to fulfil your specific task.

Process Analytical Technology, PAT Data Management

Optimal is a leading manufacturer of software solutions for Data Management in relation to PAT, (Process Analytical Technology).  For any true PAT system to be implemented in a 21 CFR Part 11 compliant environment, a PAT Data Management System is essential.  synTQ forms the essential, validated link between the real time univariate and multivariate data collection, the correlation and analysis of this data during the project’s development phase and the critical to quality product parameter prediction in real time during production.  synTQ is scaleable and available in many sizes from single instrument level, (synTQ Lite) through to a full Enterprise version.

Print Assurance and ePedigree

synTI was developed for the 21 CFR Part 11 compliant integration of printers and inspection devices such as vision systems and RFID read/writers.  It can be used for many complex inspection tasks, but in one of its more simple forms it can provide a validated finished product print and inspection system providing total print assurance.  A software module can be added to the base system to enable product serialisation and ePedigree compliance in line with impending regulations.  The system will then uniquely identify each and every product at the point of manufacture to enable full traceability from manufacture to consumption.

Packaging Automation Systems

Many packaging automation systems necessitate the use of special purpose machines, these often using servos, machine vision and robotics.  Optimal is able to design and build many complex systems to perform your specific tasks, and where necessary work with other specialist machine vendors to provide you with a total solution.  The iPass machine is a product developed specifically to provide in-line print assurance where it prints onto and then inspects every product.  Using synTI as its ‘engine’, clients are able to quickly and effectively implement validated systems in their existing or new packing lines and introduce product serialisation and ePedigree compliance.
