GB Calava supply tablet testing instruments for the pharmaceutical and similar industries. Products include dissolution testers and testers for disintegration, friability, tablet hardness, powder flow and tapped density properties. The Caleva and Erweka dissolution ranges allow for testing according to USP Methods 1,2,3,4,5,6 & 7. Offline and Online systems are available for each type of unit. A range a media degassers are available for dissolution testing also.
Caleva products are suited mainly to Quality Control and R&D laboratories and are primarily designed to test tablets, suppositories, gums and powders against standard tests laid down by the EP and USP. Other testers available in the range include the well respected All Purpose Equipment for mixing, milling, stirring etc all with one motor. The Chewing Gum Tester range is a new product in the range. Caleva have a team of engineers available to support and maintain our equipment and can offer IQ/OQ and PQ services.
GB Caleva offer Erweka dissolution testers for USP and EP methods 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.
The basic dissolution testers are designed for use with USP1,2,5 & 6. This can be bought with paddles and baskets and have seperate heaters for maintaining the bath temperature. The range includes stand alone dissolution testers for manual sampling with syringes as well as systems including fraction collectors/autosamplers, UV-VIS and HPLC analysis.
The Erweka automatic sampling arm ensures that samples are taken from the correct height. Erweka also offer a new fully automated system called Robodis which can run two dissolution baths without user intervention. A wide range of accessories including sinkers, intrinsic dissolution, filter changes, media changers and filters.
The USP Method 4 (Langenbucher flow through method) is performed using the Erweka DFZ 700 which can be operated using a piston pump or peristaltic pump. This method allows fresh media to be passed over the tablet or can be used in a closed loop system. UV-VIS and fraction collectors are also available.
USP 3 (also known as the BioDis method) and the various USP7 dissolution methods can be performed using the Caleva RRT9. The unit is designed for sustained release products where different pH is subjected to the tablet on it's passage through the stomach. This unit (in standard format) has 6 rows of 6 vessels + standard and blank. The unit tests in row 1 for the required amount of time and at the selected speed. It then indexes to row two (which may mimic a different pH indicating the tablet has progressed) and continues to dip. The tablets are held in a glass cylinder with a top and bottom cap holding it in place. USP7 methods can be discussed on request but include various tablet holders and a dip height of 2cm.
All Erweka disintegration testers have one piece moulded water baths and work according to USP/EP specifications. EP Erweka disintegration testers come in four versions. The ZT120 series offers synchronised operation with 1,2,3 or 4 baskets working at the same time. The ZT220 series offers automated start and stop when moving the dipping arm into the test position.
The ZT320 series offers independent operation of the test baskets and as an option an auto lift in and lift out function is included. The ZT70 series is the automated solution which prevents the need for the user to watch the disintegration test to determine the end point. The metal disk and sensor incorporated into the basket automatically monitor the disintegration process and when all tablets have disintegrated the unit stops automatically. EP discs are available according to Method "B" for larger tablets.
The Erweka range of pharmaceutical friability testers includes the fixed speed TA which operates at 25rpm according to the USP requirement. This unit is available with 1,2 or 4 drums and comes as standard with a 10 degree foot for adusting the angle according to the USP/EP requirements.
The TAR comes with variable speed ( 20 to 100 rpm) and is available with automatic filling and emptying function using a hole in the drum and collection plate for the tested tablets. The drums are reversed for emptying at the end of the test. The TDR attaches a Sartorius balance on which the tablets can be weighed. This data is then printed by the TDR.
The Erweka range of tablet hardness testers includes a manual/portable tester for ease of moving between production areas for continuous testing. The benchtop hardness range includes options for the testing of hardness (, diameter, thickness and weight. The units can be switched between constant speed and constant force testing.
In addition semi automation can be obtained via the 10 station star feeder in the TBH420 range. For full automation the Multicheck V tablet testers comes with 12 batch chambers for up to 100 tablets and allows fully automated testing of up to 100 tablets per chamber. Both the benchtop and Multicheck units can be controlled by CFR compliant software which contains full user access management, audit trails and product memory.
Erweka offers a range a powder flow testers to include testing of powders and granules. The GTL has changable hoppers (200ml) and outlet nozzles 10,15,25ml and detects the flow using a light sensor onto a recepticle below. The GT offers a balance onto which the powder flow and the flow rate can be determined accordingly.
The top of the range GTB adds a stirrer option and detailed firmware with product memory. This unit can also come with a laser option for determining the angle of repose on the collected powder. Tapped Density testers are available with 1 or 2 stations and can be set to tap according to both USP and EP specifications or both.
