InterFocus Imaging Ltd produces and develops image analysis software and hardware solutions primarily for the life sciences.

MCID™ image analysis software (formerly produced by Imaging Research, Canada) is in use today by 1000’s of scientists around the world including many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.  The MCID™ software was originally designed for the field of Neuroscience and has a long established reputation of quality and reliability in this field.

Our turnkey solutions are designed to provide a complete “out of the box” solution or alternatively to integrate with your existing hardware such as cameras, motorised stages, microscopes etc. MCID™ also offers additional optional modules that can be added to expand the software as your demands increase, optional modules currently available are Tiled Field Mapping (Automated imaging stitching) and Stereology (including 3D optical fractionator).

Image Analysis Software

MCID™ Core provides image capture and analysis in a single software package for Windows 2000 or Windows XP professional editions. Our image analysis software will accept image files in many formats including many of the popular phosphor imagers, laser scanners, scanning densitometers and other similar devices.

Image Analysis SoftwareMCID™ Core provides direct support for many of today’s digital cameras such as the Photometrics CoolSNAP™ and the Qimaging® range.

MCID Analysis™ provides a comprehensive offline image analysis only solution and is the ideal companion to compliment your existing capture system such as a phosphor imager, digital camera or an MCID™ Core turnkey system.  Available in both single standalone user versions and network / client versions for larger deployments.

Densitometry and Autoradiography Analysis

Audioradiography AnalysisIdeal for both film and phosphor plate autoradiography analysis methods MCID™ provides a powerful solution for the quantitative analysis of autoradiography images including whole body autoradiography. Calibrate your images to known standards, predefined analysis methods for regular autoradiography, Glucose Utilization, Protein Synthesis, Regional Blood Flow and Receptor binding.

Easy to use yet powerful sampling tools including our AutoScan A & B tools which does away with manual tracing of regions, Redirect sampling lets you link image channels together to acquire data such as total binding and non-specific binding measurements.

Presentation images are easy to produce, adding pseudo colour, calibration bars and annotation  with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Gel and Western Blot Analysis

Gel AnalysisMCID™ can be used to acquire, annotate and quantify your images of gels and blots. You can capture your gels from films using a camera, flatbed scanners or import them from your Gel Doc scanner. Calibrate your gels to known standards such as molecular weights or optical densities. MCID™ Gel Analysis features include AutoLane scanning, peak detection, baseline subtraction and warping / smiling corrections.

Reporting and annotation tools let you export your data and images, copy and paste your data direct to Excel or export to other formats such as the CSV file format for easy importation into your statistical analysis package or database.

Cell and Grain Counting Analysis

zGrain Counting AnalysisComprehensive target thresholding and filtering allows the user to easily distinguish between valid and non-valid targets for their cell and grain counting analysis experiment. Apply morphological acceptance criteria to further enhance valid target detection.

MCID Powerful redirect sampling feature allows grains and cells to be separated for more detailed and accurate analysis. Individual cells can be selected in one image and then MCID will find the same corresponding area in the grain enhanced image in order to count targets more accurately.

Fluorescence Microscopy

Fluorescence MicroscopyCapture, analyse and manipulate your fluorescent images with ease. Measure label intensity, combine discrete fluors, quantify and visualise co-localization and clarify your images using digital deconvolution.

MCID™ works with both colour and monochrome image formats. Monochrome images have the ability to be pseudo coloured, image fusion can then be performed to generate colour images made from pseudo colour monochrome images. Z-Combination focusing allows Z stacks to be combined into one single

Stereology Analysis

Stereology AnalysisThe MCID™ stereology analysis module applies commonly used stereological measurements to your images. Add a motorised stage solution from Prior, LEP Ludl or Marzhauser (other stages supported using the OASIS 4i controller) to enable the 3D optical fractionators module.

MCID’s 3D optical fractionator module allows for the users to estimate the total number of multiple cell types within a given volume by random sampling of just a view fields of view placed in the area of interest, our easy to use wizard based method is ideal for non experienced users to easily and quickly get consistent and meaningful data.

Automated Image Stitching

Automated Image StitchingMCID™ Core’s automated image stitching module uses a motorised stage from LEP, Prior, Ludl or Marzhauser to automatically generate high resolution seamless large scale images on your microscope.

With the addition of a controlled Z motor you can also enable MCID’s powerful software autofocus option, with the autofocus option enabled your tiled images are seamless stitched together and each field of view is focussed correctly before it is joined. Once generated just analyse the image as with any other image. MCID™ has been designed to easily handle and work with large image formats that are typically created using tiling methods.
