Baxter Healthcare - Drug Bag Clean and Change Room
A newly developed intravenous drug bag - hailed as a major breakthrough because it will be manufactured without using PVC to avoid any possible contamination - will be produced in the new cleanroom at Baxter Healthcare in Castlebar, County Mayo.
The 500m2 Class 10,000 cleanroom and it's adjoining Class 100,000 change room were built inside a new extension to the Castlebar plant within a ten-week timeframe.
Working with the locally based Taylor Architects, as it has done on other Baxter contracts in both Castlebar and Swinford. Ardmac was also awarded the full mechanical and electrical installation work as well as the cleanroom construction.
Ardmac's design and project engineer Finbarr Marrett brought on the M&E division of the Jones group to the Ardmac team for the contract and initial planning centred on the outline design with the Jones' specialists.
Dagard Wall System
A major feature of the contract was a Dagard wall system that was custom-made in France and delivered on site on time for installation. The cleanroom envelope was completed with a non-walk-on Metal Pan System ceiling and with Mipolam anti-static and heavy-duty vinyl flooring underfoot.
Special products included Dagard automatic sliding doors and interlock personnel doors between the change area, cleanroom and materials access points and at peak times the project involved 20 workers.
