Larox offers the Scheibler Polishing Filter, a totally unique concept, offering almost 100% solids recovery with no moving parts. A new 4 page leaflet details the process steps and filter sizes available.
Scheibler polishing filters remove and recover solids present in low concentrations from a wide variety of process liquids. Scheibler Filters exploit the phenomena of adsorption filtration to cause micronic and sub-micronic particles to adhere to the fibres of the filter media, despite being small enough to pass through the pores of the media. This reduces particle concentration in the filtrate to almost undetectable levels. Filter aids such as pre-coat and body feed are unnecessary in the vast majority of applications, but if required, the filter can be operated with filter aid without modification.
High Quality Filtration - adsorption filtration reduces particle concentrations in the exiting liquid to a level of single-digit ppm (parts per million). Production capacities increase in addition to improved quality of the plant and process end products.
Low Operation Costs - costly filter aids such as pre-coat and body feed are unnecessary in the vast majority of applications. This also considerably reduces the volume of total cake solids that may need to be disposed of to the environment. Low electrical energy consumption is another cost-saving benefit, because the adsorption process uses very low pumping pressures.
Minimal Maintenance Cost - with no moving parts, the operating cost typically equates to less than 1 Euro cent (approx. 1.25 US cents) per m3 of filtrate produced. The unique cloth cleaning and cake discharge system ensures maximum cloth lifetimes. Normally the filter is only opened periodically to replace the filter cloths.
Fully Automatic Operation - automatic (PLC) control of the cloth cleaning and cake discharge steps at the end of each filtration cycle ensures maximum filtration time in subsequent cycles. This also cuts manpower requirements by eliminating the need for frequent supervision.
High Capacity, Compact and Expandable - all Scheibler Filters occupy minimal building space. Flow rates as high as 600 m3/h can be consistently handled by a single unit, greatly simplifying the process. The respective filtration areas of the double flanged D and E series can be expanded up to 360 m2 and 720 m2, economically accommodating capacity growth.
In the chemical process industries Scheibler polishing filters excel in all forms of brine polishing applications but are now finding wide acceptance in processes as diverse as boric acid, chlor-alkali, soda ash waste, white industrial minerals for pigments including titanium dioxide, kaolin and precipitated calcium carbonate, green liquor in kraft pulp mills, scrubber streams and process waste water. Scheibler filters can also be used in conjunction with Larox C and DS series pressure filters and Pannevis vacuum belt filters for filtrate clarification with 100% solids recovery.
The Scheibler range of polishing filters are also be fully supported by the Larox Service group, the most comprehensive and experienced network in the industry, covering the world with operations in over 40 countries and providing reliable support throughout the entire lifecycle of the product.
Larox is committed to helping its clients meet the following goals
- Reduced lifetime production costs - especially energy based costs
- Improved product quality, value and consistency
- Improved safety, health and environmental performance
- Improved yield and productivity
