SubscribeThe European Collection of Cell Cultures (ECACC) in conjunction with the Univeristy of the West of the West of England, Bristol, UK, have produced standardised cell lines for the quality control of HER2, oestrogen and progresterone receptor assays.
The slides consist of paraffin wax sections of formalin fixed, breast cancer cell lines; MDA-MD-361, T47D, MCF and the ovarian cell line SKOV-3.
This range of cell lines provides a gradation of HER2 protein level expression around the clinically significant range. When used as part of a validated assay system, the HER2plus? control slides provide an efficient and economic way of minimizing fluctuations in day-to-day assay sensitivity.
The use of standard cell lines for the production of the control slides results in improved reliability in comparison to tissue derived controls. The specific antibody reactivity has been validated using reagents from a variety of sources.
