Surge of interest for second CPhI India and P-MEC India debut
South Asia's leading pharma manufacturing show, CPhI India and its co-located machinery and equipment partner event P-MEC India welcomed a total of more than 25,000 attendees at the November 2007 staging in the Bombay Exhibition Centre.
That compares dramatically with the 11,000 who attended the first CPhI India in late 2006. Interest was strong enough for CMPi and CMP India to bring forward the launch of P-MEC India by a whole year. In parallel, ICSE India will be integrated within CPhI India in 2008 - while focusing on contract services and outsourcing.
The P-MEC move was clearly successful: the first P-MEC India covered 11,000 sq. m. of exhibition space and attracted more than 280 exhibitors. Over 30% of them re-booked onsite - and by early February over 75% of the combined CPhI India and P-MEC India space for 2008 had been sold.
Pharmaceutical Ingredients, Contract Services and Equipment
For the combined total of well over 600 exhibitors, a big part of the attraction is that with CPhI, P-MEC and ICSE staging together, the shows provide complete coverage of all main pharma services sectors - ingredients, contract services and equipment. This delivers high-value networking and business opportunities across a single, highly convenient business platform.
But the big driver is undoubtedly India's fast-growing status in serving both domestic and global healthcare markets. The Indian pharma industry achieved 11% growth in 2007 to a value of US $13.6 bn., while the Indian pharmaceutical machinery market is growing by 14 - 17% annually.
Contract Research and Manufacturing Services Exhibitions
Underlining India's world role, the contract research and manufacturing services sector is expected to hit US $6.6bn. within the next five years.
Reviewing the 2007 events, CMPi's Group Director for Pharma Ingredients events Eliane van Doorn commented: "We are delighted both that the event co-location formula has worked so well for exhibitors and visitors - and that the events are providing a truly international platform on which to build key business partnerships.
"India is fast becoming a major powerhouse right across the healthcare sectors and the tremendous forward interest in this year's CPhI and P-MEC in India emphasises this exciting momentum".
The 2008 India event dates have been announced as Friday 28 - Sunday 30 November for CPhI and ICSE India, and Thursday 27 - Sunday 30 November for P-MEC India - again at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.
