Farfield Group named as Biotechnology Company of the Year

Farfield Group Ltd

Farfield Group Limited (Crewe, United Kingdom) was delighted to be named as “Northwest Biotechnology Company of the Year” at the recent Annual Northwest Biotechnology Awards dinner organised by Bionow, the Northwest Regional Development Agency’s (NWDA) biotechnology cluster support group.

The event, attended by 185 guests, was a resounding success and showcased the very best of biotechnology in the Northwest of England.

The Biotechnology Company of the Year award sponsored by AstraZeneca recognised Farfield's long-standing culture of enterprise, initiative and innovation. Other important factors in Farfield's award were its global reputation, innovative market position and potential for future growth, fuelled by the Company's top quality science and strong working partnerships.

On the night, the award was presented by Jackie Wilbraham, Director of Science Policy at AstraZeneca, who highlighted Farfield's ambition and the excellence of its staff in her presentation speech. Paul Barraclough, Chairman of Farfield Group, received the award on behalf of the company, commenting "Farfield Scientific have many people to thank for this award.

Our staff, of course, but also many other organisations and collaborators - international, national and regional including Bionow. The award is, however, a special opportunity to thank our long-term investor the Manchester Airport Group. Part of their agenda was to add value to the North West, and I hope this award demonstrates they have."

Farfield's AnaLight® instrument range provides unique measurements that allow researchers to question and understand the structural changes taking place in biomolecules as they function and interact, an approach not previously available in a laboratory-based technique. AnaLight® enables researchers to make new and rapid advances in drug discovery, disease diagnosis and understanding the underlying mechanisms behind diseases.

Dr Simon Carrington, Farfield Group Ltd's Marketing Director added "We are delighted to accept this award as further recognition of our success and contribution to the growing strength of the economy in the Northwest of England. We would like to thank Bionow and the NWDA for their continued support for what we are trying to achieve at Farfield. This ceremony once again illustrates the buoyant and vibrant nature of biotechnology in the Northwest, and Farfield is proud to play a part in this success story".
