CP Pharmaceuticals

CP Pharmaceuticals is an integrated pharmaceutical business developing, producing and marketing branded and unbranded prescription pharmaceuticals and providing contract manufacturing services. CP has a total workforce of over 430 people and now supplies well over one billion doses per annum, providing treatment for over one million patients every day of the year.

Machinery Cleaning

Customer Focus
Within the CP facility there is no room for error in the production of products essential to the support of life and health.

  • Guardline’s customer focus Team serves as a ‘listening post’ to assure the capture of its customers’ concerns and problems to provide solutions.

Floor Cleaning

Reduction of Microbial Counts
Garment changing rooms always provide a challenge to acceptable particle and microbial contamination levels due to the ‘people effect’. General wiping can dislodge particles and create airborne contamination - or merely dislodge particles to another surface location. In order to reinforce existing floor cleaning and disinfection regimes, Guardline advised the use of a tacky roller within the garment changing area. Spread of particulate is limited by the lifting action of the roller as it passes over the surface.

The adhesive on the tacky film not only removes contaminants on the floor surface but also provides an inhibitor to further bio-growth.

The rollers come in convenient 9-inch (used in this instance to allow for limited space) and 18-inch sizes, double wrapped and can be used for cleaning walls, floors, ceilings and difficult to reach areas.

  • The level of contaminants monitored within this area has subsequently been reduced.

Glove Solutions

Machinery Cleaning
CP's aseptic areas contain processing and filling machinery required a high degree of maintenance and cleaning – both strictly controlled and monitored.

Independent tests were commissioned by CP and Guardline in order to introduce a grade of cleanroom wipe compatible with the standards required.

Higher levels of performance were found to be gained from using Lymtech Purity wipes within the critical areas. Blueguard wipes continue to be used within the less critical areas for general cleaning purposes- their colour serving as both a visual identification and additional safeguard.

  • Once again monitored level of contaminants has been reduced.

Glove Solutions
Aseptic production within CP calls for double-gloving regimes with a resultant prolific glove use and obvious increase in costs.

Guardline were able to introduce Maxikleen latex gloves into these areas.

These gloves have textured fingers and palms for dexterity, excellent fit and low levels of extractable proteins and chemical residue. In order to reduce particulate burden within the donning areas, the gloves are presented in a sterile field and double-packed – both in polythene – eliminating contamination from cardboard boxes and paper in the area.

  • Maxikleen gloves also showed significant cost savings in comparison with the brand previously used by CP – without loss of quality or increase in microbial counts.
