DIA Presents Oncology as a Case Study

The Drug Information Association (DIA) will host Clinical Drug Development from Strategy to Implementation November 29 to December 1 at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore.

The three-day conference will explore the challenges in the development of a cancer therapeutic and identify possible ways to address these difficulties. Features will include discussions around the different ways to enhance the development process for cancer therapeutics and new public/private initiatives, including Clinical Research Information Exchange (CRIX) and safe access for everyone (SAFE).

Day one will concentrate on oncology clinical research including strategic issues, challenges and solutions. Day two will address the use of new technology to streamline oncology clinical research processes, and day three will review informatics and data standard initiatives to facilitate studies in drug development.

Keynote presentations will be given by Richard Pazdur, MD, Director of Division of Oncology Drug Products, Office of Drug Evaluation I, Office of New Drugs, CDER, FDA, and Philip S. Schein, MD, President, The Schein Group, visiting professor in Cancer Pharmacology, University of Oxford, UK. Pazdur will speak on the vision of the Office of Oncology Products and its role in oncology clinical research and use of technology. Schein will address the current challenges in oncology clinical research and the vision for the future, especially with respect to the use of technology.
