Hygiene Coatings for the Pharmaceutical Industry

Liquid Plastics Limited

There are many important factors to consider when designing a sterile or 'cleanroom' environment, in particular how best to avoid contamination and the ability of the facility to withstand harsh cleaning regimes.

One method of controlling this is to protect the walls and ceilings with an elastomeric hygiene coating.

Liquid Plastics' range of hygiene coatings both outlast and outperform their traditional counterparts because they have been specifically formulated for use in all demanding hygiene environments, including pharmaceutical facilities. Their elasticity allows them to absorb impact and structural movements without cracking or flaking and their inherent active ingredients effectively prevent the growth of mould and bacteria without leaching. Also now available is Sterimatt, a new coating that can be roller applied to provide a smooth, matt finish.

Cleanroom TechnologyMost importantly Liquid Plastics’ hygienic coatings contribute towards meeting the ISO14644 standard and the EU GMP Regulations – the most important criteria for pharmaceutical plants. The products ability to withstand harsh cleaning regimes is unsurpassed and includes rigorous sterilising processes such as those carried out using formaldehyde.

Liquid Plastics' products, which include Steridex, Sterisheen and Sterisept, are all UV stable and available in a variety of colours allowing for greater design possibilities. They have been fully tested to prove their resistance against a multitude of moulds and bacteria and after application they are guaranteed to last for at least 10 years before first maintenance is required.
