Research fellowship opportunity for a 2 year project on scanning analytical microsystems based on biomolecular receptors
Dr Ángel Maquieira Catala's research group (UPV-SYM) from the Chemistry Department at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain, is looking for foreign, ie. non-Spanish, candidates to apply for the fellowship referenced as: GRISOLIA08/52.
The work is related to the European Union (SABIO) and Spanish national (SYM07) research projects.
Chemical Treatments for Solid Surfaces
The aim is to develop chemical treatments for solid surfaces to immobilize bio-reagents (proteins, nucleic acids, etc) for set-up nanophotonic biosensors.
Both projects have a broad scope so applications are welcomed from individuals specialising in different scientific and technological disciplines. For example, organic chemists should work well on surfaces (silicon, polymers, etc.) and chemical derivatisation, while biochemists should fit best on of reagent selection, working protocols, testing nanosensors and so on.
Development of Scanning Analytical Microsystems
This will be a two year project called Strategies for Development of Scanning Analytical Microsystems based on Biomolecular Receptors and their Application to Life Sciences. It offers a grant of €1200 per month, which could be increased according to the expertise and interest of the candidate.
Suitable candidates should have a degree in one of the following:
Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology
Telecommunications Engineering, Materials Engineering
Candidates must apply online by March 25, 2008 using the link below
