Biotest Strips Users Save Space, Time and Money
New PET (polyethylene terephthalate) packaging on Biotest agar media allows for room temperature storage, allowing Biotest to be the only supplier of room temp agar.
Conventional agar media packaging such as Agar Plates and Rodacs must be stored in a refrigerated area. This causes many space storage issues, especially in smaller facilities. However, all Biotest Agar Strips can now be stored at room temperature for the entire shelf life of the product. This gives Biotest customers the convenience of room temperature storage on their Agar Strips.
Room temperature storage is a major advantage over other agar media packagings which take up valuable space in scarce refrigerated areas. users of the Biotest RCS Microbial Air Samplers are no longer are the required to store their agar media in refrigerated areas; this allows users to save time, space and other costs associated with refrigeration.
Other benefits of PET packaging include:
- Increased stability/shelf life up to 8 months from date of manufacture
- Easier to open and handle strips
- Clear view of the agar media contained inside
The PET material is easier to open and handle, while retaining superior stability characteristics. The PET material is also clear and does not discolor or become brittle with exposure to gamma-irradiation or sterilization chemicals. Biotest's extensive validation studies prove that the performance and growth characteristics with the improved PET packaging materials meets or significantly exceeds the performance with the previous PVC (polyvinyl chloride) packaging materials.
