Pharmacovigilance in Animal Health

The Animal Health industry faces enormous challenges as the 21st century gathers momentum, regulation, in the UK the EU and the US is becoming increasingly more complex with additional issues of compliance to consider, such as increased requirements for pharmacovigilance and risk management.

Animal Health: CatManagement Forum’s event schedule is designed to tackle these issues and to provide an opportunity for Animal Health professionals to discuss new technologies, treatments and regulatory strategies and hear from key opinion leaders how these developments will impact on their working practices.

Animal Health: DogBefore the end of 2008, Andrea James, Management Forum’s Animal Health Conference Director, will deliver an Autumn/Winter schedule of challenging yet balanced seminars and conferences that will include; Potency Testing Explained for the Veterinary Industry, Pharmacovigilance for the Veterinary Industry, Regulatory Update on EU Animal Feed Additives, with a workshop on Practical EU Animal Feed Additive Dossier Strategies, Veterinary Statistics and the Development and Regulation of Veterinary Generics including a pre-seminar workshop on an Introduction to Veterinary Generics.

During June, Management Forum ran a hugely successful Veterinary Drug Development Summer School at The Rembrandt Hotel, Knightsbridge, London, as one of their portfolio of residential Premium Events. The primary objective of the school’s 5 days of intense knowledge-based workshops and debate was to introduce the European and USA requirements for approval of a Veterinary pharmaceutical product.  Delegates were also given an insight into the requirements and the types of study necessary to support product approval and how global development programs are defined and executed.

Ray Harding , chairman of the weeklong School, and Managing Director of Cyton Biosciences UK, commented, “During the thirteen years that I have been working with Management Forum I have been impressed with their professionalism and very personal approach when dealing with both the participants to their courses, and their panel of speakers.

Mouse and PawThe success of the meetings, whether they are conferences, addressing topical issues or training courses aimed at developing the expertise of industry members, lies in the teamwork between speakers and Management Forum in planning the different presentations to ensure that the objectives of the meting are fully met. As a result, some meetings based on a successful format have been repeated for a number of years, while ensuring that the content and presentations are thoroughly up-to-date.

The comprehensive five day course “Working Through Veterinary Drug Development in the EU and USA” has now been running for eight years, providing a succession of participants with a thorough grounding in the scientific disciplines, regulatory procedures and project management skills that are needed for successful drug development. A major part of the course was devoted to the breakout sessions, in which the delegates worked through a realistic development project in a project team. Delegates invariably found these sessions of enormous value in consolidating what they had learned in a realistic team-working environment.”
