Olympus DP71 Camera Offers Faster-Than-Ever Display Rate, High Sensitivity, Low Noise, Outstand...

The DP71 is a 12.5 megapixel, 12-bit digital color camera that displays the native CCD's full-resolution live image at 15 frames per second, a new standard among cameras in its category. It can capture a 12.5 megapixel image with outstanding color fidelity, clarity, and an abundance of detail in under three seconds.

In addition, it has numerous resolution options, allowing the user to match its resolution to the microscope objective being used, thereby optimizing the imaging protocol to suit the requirements of the specimen being photographed.

The camera provides brilliant color reproduction, making it ideal for pathologists, who require the best possible color fidelity for diagnostic purposes. It also is an excellent choice for fluorescence imaging when signals are weak, thanks to its choice of high-sensitivity, low-noise features: two binning modes, a new custom grayscale algorithm, a special SFL (super fluorescence) auto exposure mode, and Peltier cooling (10 degrees Celsius below ambient).

An optional removable IR filter model is available for extended imaging into the near-infrared range. With its high-sensitivity 2/3 inch 1.45 million pixel CCD and piezoelectric motor, the DP71 provides fast performance. Pixel shifting technology is used to increase spatial resolution from 1.45 to 12.5 million pixels. In live mode, full-frame images (1360 x 1024) are produced at 15 fps for viewing, consultation or documentation.

In addition, the camera has two ultra-high resolution modes (4080 x 3072 and 2040 x 1536), and a 680 x 512 mode. To work at high resolutions and save file space, there is a region of interest function that allows the acquisition of smaller areas of the field of view.

The camera comes with a short, half-sized PCI interface card that occupies only one slot, allowing the use of additional plug-ins. The software, which can also be used to operate Olympus motorized microscopes, features both standard and custom grayscale functions with up to a 10-fold reduction in exposure time on the custom grayscale option. The Preview Image Quality mode is highly improved for long exposures.

The software is intuitive and helps streamline workflow with a customizable toolbar for enhanced control over image acquisition and management. The DP71 features a standard C-mount for attachment to most microscopes, and sports an elegant new black matte casing with a sleek platinum stripe.
