Laminar flow is a one-way, unbroken stream of cleansed and highly filtered air. The technology relies on a High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter (HEPA Filter) to capture unwanted dust and organisms, leaving purified, cleaned air behind.

Contaminants are unable to penetrate the clean area, since there is a constant barrage of clean air pushing them away. Particles released within the clean area are quickly carried away by the flow of air.

Cleanroom Laminar Flow Solutions

In the cleanroom environment, laminar flow may be localised on a small working area, or may be expanded to provide air conditioning and ventilation for the cleanroom as a whole. Coolers within the equipment allow the air to be cooled to the necessary temperature before release into the cleanroom.

Cleanroom laminar flow solutions come in two types: vertical and horizontal current. Horizontal airflow solutions allow easy access and visibility, perfect for the handling of small objects. Examples include microscope analysis and sample preparation. Vertical flow solutions are suitable for the handling of larger items, and can be readily fitted into filling systems.

Clean Room Airflow Design

When designing the clean room, it is important to consider the number of people that will occupy the room to decide the required rate of air supply around 100 m³/h per person. Other factors to consider in clean room airflow design include relative humidity, purity, and the handling of contaminated air.

If humidity is set high (above 45 percent) then this may lead to issues with corrosion, but for any humidity level below 55 percent, there is a danger of electrostatic charges building up. Therefore, it is necessary to balance these two concerns according to the needs of lab personnel as well as the materials being handled.

Depending on the type of materials being handled, it may be necessary to treat waste air further before release. If the potential contaminants pose no danger to the environment then waste air can be released directly into the environment. Otherwise, additional steps must be taken to treat the air before release.

Bleymehl Laminar Flow Products

Bleymehl offer a wide range of laminar flow zones, benches, fume hoods and safety cabinets for the protection of products, workers and the environment.

Laminar flow zones / benches use purified airflow to protect products against contamination from the environment and production process

Fume hoods help protect both environment and staff by flushing away fumes and odours.

Safety cabinets shield products against corruption by airborne pollutants and material released in production. The cabinet also safeguards staff and atmosphere from harmful substances within the cabinet.

Please visit the website for specific information on these products.

These products can be combined as required to protect products, workers and the environment as the situation demands.
